Benefits of Making a Legacy Gift

Planned gifts are a wonderful way to continue your support of the Academy in perpetuity. Unrestricted gifts or those designated for “general support” will be added to the Academy’s general endowment which supports all aspects of the school including student scholarships, faculty, general operations, and strengthen’s the Academy’s financial position. Planned gifts may also reduce estate tax burdens. We encourage you to speak with your financial advisor or attorney to choose an option best for you.

Types of Gifts

Wills and Bequests

Leaving a bequest in your will is one of the simplest forms of a planned gift. You can specify an amount or percentage of your estate or proceeds of specific assets to the Academy.

Sample Residual Gift Language
I give and devise to Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy, Inc., located in Baltimore, MD, all (or state a percentage) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be used for its general support (or state a specific purpose, fund or program).

Sample Specific Gift Language
I give and devise to Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy, Inc., located in Baltimore, MD, the sum of $XX (or asset) to be used for its general support (or state a specific purpose, fund or program).

Sample Contingent Gift Language
If (insert name of spouse or other beneficiary) is not living at the time of my demise, I give and devise to Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy, Inc., located in Baltimore, MD, the sum of $XX (or all or a percentage of the residue of my estate) to be used for general support (or state a specific purpose, fund or program).

Life Insurance, IRAs or Retirement Accounts

Just as you can name an individual as a beneficiary of your life insurance, IRA or other retirement account, you can also name a charity including the Academy. Please contact your plan administrator or agent for the appropriate paperwork, forms and instructions.

Trusts

When creating a Trust, you can include the Academy as a beneficiary. We recommend you work with your financial or legal advisor in developing your Trust.

What to Include

For any planned gift, please be sure to include the following information:
Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy

Designating a Planned Gift

Gifts that have the least restrictions are the best for the Academy as it enables us the most flexibility. This is why all undesignated or general purpose legacy gifts are added to the Academy’s general endowment fund. If you wish to designate your gift for a specific purpose or program, you may choose from a number of existing funds or programs. If you wish to create a named fund for a specific purpose, please contact Jennifer Summers so we may understand your wishes and intentions for your legacy gift.
