PCs for People

PCs for People is a non-profit organization that provides refurbished technology including laptops, desktops, wifi or mobile hotspots to individuals and non-profits. Through a special partnership, current families and Academy graduates may purchase items at affordable prices. Student Uniforms* (Update for the 2023-24 School Year)

The student dress code is symbolic of the importance we place on education. Therefore, students must dress in a neat and professional manner. Students shall wear their full uniform to and from school. A student shall be deemed out of dress code at the sole discretion of a school administrator and that student will be held for lunch/recess detention. If the school has the missing uniform item in stock, the student will be given that item and sent to class. The parent will be billed. In extreme situations the student may be sent home from school. Per the Academy’s Student Handbook, the student uniform is:

Summer and Spring Uniform for All Students (July 5-October 27, 2023 and April 3-June 15, 2024):

  • Khaki pants or shorts, appropriate length and hemmed; Cargo pants or pants with elastic waistbands or drawstrings are not permitted.

  • Athletic or dress socks that rise above the ankle

  • Dress shoes or athletic sneakers that tie (clean and not worn out). Crocs, open-toed shoes, Uggs or similar shoes, Yeezy or similar style shoes, or work boots are not permitted.

  • A solid color leather or fabric belt

  • St. Ignatius burgundy polo shirt with logo*. Shirts must be tucked in at all times in the school building. Students may wear an undershirt or t-shirt under the school polo that is light in color, has no writing, and that does not extend past the sleeve of the polo (e.g. no long-sleeve shirts under short-sleeve polo shirts).

  • Navy blue v-neck sweater with logo*, Navy blue fleece vest with logo*, or quarter pull-over with logo*. Outwear should be worn over the uniform and the uniform must be visible. Unapproved sweatshirts, including the St. Ignatius burgundy hoodie, are not allowed to be worn in the school building.

Winter Uniform (October 30, 2023-March 22, 2024):

Students in 5th Grade Only:

  • Khaki pants, appropriate length and hemmed. Cargo pants or pants with elastic waistbands or drawstrings are not permitted.

  • Athletic or solid-color dress socks that rise above the ankle.

  • Dress shoes or athletic sneakers that tie. Crocs, open-toed shoes, Uggs or similar shoes, or Yeezy or similar style shoes are not permitted.

  • A solid color leather or fabric belt.

  • St. Ignatius burgundy polo shirt (long or short sleeve)*. Shirts must be tucked in at all times in the school building. Students may wear an undershirt or t-shirt under the school polo that is light in color, has no writing, and that does not extend past the sleeve of the polo (e.g. no long-sleeve shirts under short-sleeve polo shirts).

  • Navy blue v-neck sweater with logo*, Navy blue fleece vest with logo*, or quarter pull-over with logo*. Outwear should be worn over the uniform and the uniform must be visible. Unapproved sweatshirts, including the St. Ignatius burgundy hoodie, are not allowed to be worn in the school building.

Students in Grades 6-8:

  • Khaki pants, appropriate length and hemmed. Cargo pants or pants with elastic waistbands or drawstrings are not permitted.

  • Athletic or solid-color dress socks that rise above the ankle.

  • Dress shoes or athletic sneakers that tie. Crocs, open-toed shoes, Uggs or similar shoes, or Yeezy or similar style shoes are not permitted.

  • A solid color leather or fabric belt.

  • A standard, long-sleeve, light powder blue “Oxford” dress shirt, without any logos (denim, royal blue or dark blue are not acceptable). Shirts must be tucked in at all times in the school building. Students may wear an undershirt or t-shirt under their shirt that is light in color and has no writing or design.

  • A solid burgundy* or striped navy and burgundy tie*. 8th grade students may wear the bowtie given to them by the school or a school uniform tie. No clip-on ties.

  • Navy blue v-neck sweater with logo*, Navy blue fleece vest with logo*, or quarter pull-over with logo*. Outwear should be worn over the uniform and the uniform must be visible. Unapproved sweatshirts, including the St. Ignatius burgundy hoodie, are not allowed to be worn in the school building.

**Students may wear the winter uniform year round. All students will be given their first tie in 6th grade before the winter dress code begins. We recommend purchasing additional ties and/or leaving a tie in the student’s locker. A school-issued bowtie will be given to each 8th grade student in the fall of their 8th grade year.

Here is a list of days that students must wear the Winter Uniform during the Summer and Spring uniform period (this may be added to throughout the school year). Students should bring their PE uniform on those days if he has PE class:

  • Mass of the Holy Spirit (6th, 7th and 8th grade)

  • 8th Grade Graduation

  • Ash Wednesday Mass

  • Sponsor events

  • Any other school event, such as Academic Quarter Awards Ceremonies

PE Uniform (5th Grade Students Only)

On Physical Education days, students are required to wear their St. Ignatius PE uniform consisting of:

  • Black athletic shorts with school logo*

  • Burgundy t-shirt with school logo* (short or long sleeve). Students may wear an undershirt or t-shirt under the PE shirt that is light in color, has no writing, and that does not extend past the sleeve (e.g. no long-sleeve shirts).

  • Zippered sweatshirt with school logo*

  • Black track pants with school logo* (worn over the PE uniform shorts) or solid black athletic leggings worn under the PE uniform shorts

  • Athletic socks that rise above the ankle

  • athletic sneakers that tie. Crocs, open-toed shoes, Uggs or similar shoes, or Yeezy or similar style shoes are not permitted.

If you are unsure about the uniform or have a question, please check with Mr. James Scott or Mr. Matt Ormiston prior to purchasing.

For a limited time or while supplies last, St. Ignatius issued gym uniforms, burgundy polo shirts, and burgundy hoodies can be purchase through the school office or by contacting Ms. Arrington.

Additional Notes on Dress and Appearance:

  • No jewelry (chains, earrings, etc) is allowed, except for a watch. 

  • Hair should be neatly trimmed and students are to be clean-shaven. No mustaches or beards  are permitted. Students should begin to shave as the need becomes apparent. 

  • Hats are not to be worn inside the school building. 

  • In inclement weather only, students may wear boots to school, but they must change into their uniform shoes upon arrival.  

  • Clothing Bank: Parents with uniform items in good condition are asked to donate them to the clothing bank, and any parent may ask to take clothing as needed.

Meal Program

The Academy’s meal program promotes the health and wellness of our students. The Academy participates in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Free and Reduced Meal Programs and is a participant in the Seamless Summer Option. We serve two meals per day, breakfast and lunch, and on 5:00 p.m. dismissal days students also receive an afternoon snack. All students receive meals at no cost to families. The Academy meal program is offered by Revolution Foods who provide healthy, fresh, whole food made from natural ingredients and served in right-sized portions. Revolution Foods’ meals do not contain artificial coloring, flavors or preservatives. Fresh fruit is available at every meal.

Students are prohibited from bringing the following to school:

  • fast food

  • candy and/or gum

  • soda and other caffeinated or sugary drinks

  • donuts

  • Lunchables (or similar brands)

  • Cup of Noodles (or similar brands)

St. Ignatius Loyola Academy announces participation in the National School Lunch Program. Physical Education and Athletics

Physical exercise is essential to good health. All students participate in the physical education. Students in grades 6-8 participate in the athletic program at the Academy, whether on an interscholastic team or in intramural activities. Students are expected to consistently behave in a sportsmanlike manner and should wear their gym uniform on PE days.

School Communications

In our continued efforts to be environmentally conscious, the Academy uses ClassDojo to communicate with parents and guardians. Each parent will receive an email invitation to join the Academy’s group. Important information, reminders and events will be posted on the site. If you need assistance with signing up, please contact Steffany Arrington. Additionally, the Academy uses email to communicate to parents/guardians, some of which may be made through our web-based system, School Admin.  Parents/guardians are expected to ensure school emails are not marked as SPAM and that they are read and replied to in a timely manner.

Transportation

The Academy does not provide transportation to and from school. Parents are responsible for making arrangements to have students at school by 8:10 a.m. and picked up at the end of the school day by 5:00 p.m. (3:30 p.m. for 5th grade students). Students in grades 6-8 who take public transportation can get a reduced fare eligible card from Ms. Arrington in our front office.
